The poppy as a sacred plant symbolised with its parasitic presence in the grain the goddess Demeter. In the processions of the Eleusinia Mysteries the stautes of the goddess were adorned with poppy flowers.

The jewellery collection Poppy is inspired by Greek mythology and particularly by the Eleusinian Mysteries, when during the processions the goddess Demeter’s statues were adorned with poppy flowers.
For me, the engraved silver poppy represents the goddess and the vinyl represents the sons of Hades.
The poppy was one of Demeter’s sacred plants, symbolizing the goddess with its parasitic presence in the grain. The ancient Greeks were well aware of the hypnotic and narcotic properties of the plant, as is evidenced by the depiction of the sons of Hades Hypnos (Sleep) and Thanatos (Death) with poppy flowers in their hands. The symbolism behind the use of the plant is obvious, as the common poppy (Papaver Rhoeas) can induce sleep and the opium poppy (Papaver somniferum) can cause death.
