Ruff jewellery collection is handmade from Sterling Silver 925 & oxidized.
I drew inspiration from the pleated white ruff bedecking the neck of the wealthy Amsterdam merchant’s daughter Johanna le Maire from c. 1622.
My love for metal and for the harmony of geometric shapes helped me treat metal like fabric, folding it in pleats that rest against each other gently like waves in a calm sea.

Poppy
The poppy as a sacred plant symbolised with its parasitic presence in the grain the goddess Demeter. In the processions of the Eleusinia Mysteries the stautes of the goddess were adorned with poppy flowers.

Pithari
Early childhood memory: clay pitharia hidden in shady store rooms but the smell of olive oil betraying them. How many memories it takes to fill the old forgotten pithari at the village?
There is space enough for the honest labour, the many smiles, the joyful gatherings of family and friends in the countryside. There’s even space for the sun that bakes the earth and turns it to clay, the same sun that ripens the fruit of the olive tree on the island of Crete for 4.000 years. How much memory have you got? How many pitharia would you need to store the images, the smells, the caresses you do not wish to forget?
Today the pitharia decorate our gardens and courtyards. But before the age of the refrigerator their importance was vital in domestic economy since people were storing the fruit of their labour for months even years.

The Labours Of Hercules
My own personal hero is Hercules because he stands out among all others with his titanic physical and mental strength. Through his adventures that led to the successful completion of the labours , he taught me valuable life principles as the importance of modesty and purity of body and spirit, the mastering of one's impulsive drives, the persistence in one's goals and the continuous quest for truth. The labours of Hercules inspired me as a child and still continue to do so today in the maze of my daily life. When I walk in my busy city I " see " him standing at the crossroad pointing to me silently which way to go , prompting me to choose the right path , the one of goodness and virtue despite the difficulties ahead.
The collection " The Labours of Hercules" is inspired by The Nemea Lion, The Lernean Hydra, The Ceryneian Hind, The Stables of Augeias, The Stymphalian Birds, The Girdle of Hippolyte and The Golden Apples of The Hesperides.

The Lernean Hydra
Lernean Hydra was a monstrous serpent with nine heads attacking with poisonous venom. One of the head was immortal and cutting off one of the nine heads, another two would immediately grow. Hercules used sacred fire to prevent the growth of replacement heads and he buried the ninth and immortal head deep in the ground.This labour symbolizes the generative force of the individual to overcome the nine (number of the heads) flaws of his or her ego.
Τhe Stymphalian Birds
Hercules had to drive an enormous flock of birds which gathered at a lake near the town of Stymphalos. He had to use the krotala (noisemaking clappers) to make the birds fly away from the trees and then used his bow and arrows to shoot them down. In this task the arrows symbolize the person’s spiritual power and the krotala the wisdom and the knowledge. A person needs to find his way towards his wise soul.
The Golden Apples of the Hesperides
Hercules had to bring to Eurystheus the golden apples which belonged to Zeus and were the wedding gift of Hera to Zeus. After a long journey and many difficulties, Hercules managed to posses the apples after having the help of Atlas. This task symbolizes the superior knowledge (golden apples) and the heroic spirit that a person must possess in order to use this knowledge for the common good.

My collection Everlasting Spring is inspired by the beauty of the ancient Greek woman, combined with the Queen of flowers, the Netherlands, where I have been living the past years.
Like life itself, the “Everlasting Spring” collection is made of consecutive circles of paper, each containing a unique flower.
I experimented with paper for the first time and created colorful jewelry based on flowers that decorate and scent the air forever.
Collection includes: necklaces, brooches, earrings and rings.
